Why the middle class views corporations as "Monsters."

The once-pervasive influence of religious institutions has been displaced by the power of the corporation. And with their rise, these once-admired organizations, on which billions depend for their livelihoods, are drawng the negative sentiments once directed at religious authorities.

A Vancouver business ethicist who counts multinational companies among his clients, says corporations are no longer criticized only by ideologically motivated activists, they are drawing the suspicions of the monied middle classes from Canada to Brazil, Europe to India.
